SearchInform Presents a Solution for Telegram Monitoring
11.07.2017

SearchInform added the function of traffic analysis of Telegram to SearchInform DLP. The solution is primarily designed to prevent the leakage of confidential information. According to the survey of the level of information security in Russia, 40% of companies are forced to block access to instant messengers in order to protect themselves from insider activities and prevent intentional or accidental leakage of confidential data. To solve the problem, we implemented in SearchInform DLP the feature to control popular IM clients and instant messengers: Viber, Facebook, Google+, ICQ, AIM, Jabber, MSN, Mail.ru Agent, LinkedIn and others, including Telegram. The updated module checks correspondence, voice messages and files transmitted via the desktop version of the messenger for compliance with security policies.

“Telegram is all the rage now. This is due to the recent scandal and the possibility of blocking the messenger in Russia. The brainchild of Durov wasn’t prohibited in the end, but the scandal whetted the users’ appetite for it,” said Sergei Ozhegov, CEO of SearchInform. “The messenger is used for personal and business correspondence. Government entities, such as Federal Antimonopoly Service, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the President of Russia’s Council on Civil Society and Human Rights have official Telegram channels, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has its own set of stickers. The new functionality of SearchInform DLP still allows learning the news, receiving and providing information, communicating as usual, but at the same time the system provides information protection, analyzes traffic in real time, including antiterrorist security policies, and warns of threats.”

A new version of SearchInform DLP also features a tool for taking pictures and recording videos of user activity in the field of view of a built-in or connected webcam. All the novelties of 2017 will be traditionally presented by the company in autumn on “Road Show SearchInform”, annual series of free hands-on conferences in the domain of information security.
