Another massive leak in South Africa
25.05.2018

934 000 records of South Africans got leaked by one of the companies receiving traffic fines payment online.

Compromised IDs, names, emails and passwords were discovered by Troy Hunt, Australian cyber security researcher, and Tefo Mohapi, founder of iAfrican. Troy Hunt was the one who discovered the biggest data breach South Africa ever seen. In autumn 2017 the personal info of 30 million people got exposed. There could have been 47 million records revealing ethnicity, properties, contacts, income and employment details stored in the uploaded file.

All the registered users of the sites which provide the possibility of paying traffic fines online were affected and asked to have their account details changed.
