Taiwan’s civil service system reports data of 240,000 civil servants compromised

The data breach was reported by Taiwan’s civil service system. 240,000 civil servants had their personal details exposed.

On June 22 when an incident was detected it was suggested that the data of more than 590,000 employees was leaked and appeared to be available on foreign websites.

The Ministry of Civil Service has announced that names, ID numbers, agency information, and job titles of 243,376 civil servants were compromised.

Instructions on conducting an investigation of breaches revealing personal data are spelled out in the Personal Information Protection Act, and the agency has already taken measures in conformity with the Act notifying the affected individuals.

In accordance with Cyber Security Management Act the National Center for Cyber Security Technology will be informed of the breach.
