Trend Micro employee leaks a corporate database
07.11.2019

Trend Micro, a cyber-security solutions worldwide provider, has been breached.

Nearly 70,000 customers had their data maliciously leaked by the company’s employee.

As the systems were intact it was clear that the exposure happened due to an insider. There were other indicators which pointed at inside learn.

In August the company’s clients were massively attacked by scammers who knew enough target details to make the company suspect someone within the network perimeter.

The employee took information from a customer support database and sold it to a third party.

Employee operations on corporate files can be monitored - a special solution will classify documents, and alert to changes made to them.
