25.11.2019

T-Mobile confirms the data breach which exposed the personal details of more than 1 million prepaid customers.

The data was leaked in the beginning of November and the company claimed to have fixed the issue promptly. Although, the source of and the reason for the leak wasn’t announced.

1 million clients are almost 1.5% of a total client base of 75 million.

Names, addresses, phone numbers, account details and tariffs were compromised, whereas credit card information, passwords and social security numbers weren’t breached.

In 2018 a data breach cost 24% more than in 2017 and amounted to $1.23 million – the average sum a company wasted when facing a breach.
