Ring tackles a personal data breach.
More than 1,500 emails and passwords were found on the dark web by researchers, whereas a second cache was discovered online containing about 3,600 unique log in credentials.
The uploaded data belonging to the doorbell owners exposes home addresses, payment cards as well as last 4 digits and security codes because emails and passwords could be easily used by a potential violator.
Time zones and camera locations as places where they are located are often attributed to the devices. An offender could obtain a footage from cameras, video history could be also viewed.
Amazon doesn’t seem to be willing to discuss the breach and admit to the issue. It isn’t clear whether a leak happened due to a third-party actions or to the Ring’s internal activity.
