A 65% increase in phishing attacks

According to Agari, provider of a phishing prevention security solution, there has been a 65% increase in email phishing attempts – attacks feature COVID-19 information, many pandemic-related scams affected businesses and organisations during the previous several months.

SOC specialists took part in the Phishing Incident Response Survey reporting 67% false positives among 4,521 phishing incidents emphasising ensuing problems with time allocation and detection of real attacks.

Although malicious emails which remained unreported were dealt with more successfully than it used to be before – thanks to the deployed automated response technologies.

Verizon’s 2020 Data Breach Investigations Report shows that 1/4 of the breaches aren’t discovered sooner than a month, and often it takes longer. It costs US companies about $8.2 million per phishing incident – Ponemon Institute has made a research studying the breaches’ impact in 2020.
