620 people have filed a claim against C-Planet IT Solutions Ltd, the company which breached GDPR.
75% of Malta population got its data compromised.
About 330,000 Maltese citizens had their personal data exposed in April. There were names, addresses and ID card details among the leaked confidential information.
The claimants determined the reimbursement of the impact on those who got their confidential data breached.
How to protect personal data?
Such details as political views were leaked as well among the breached data – whether a person is a Labour or Nationalist voter. No password was needed to access the information.
The company rushed to downplay the severity of the leakage in order to not bring excessive attention to the nationwide privacy incident.
