COBM: once a leak always a leak
10.02.2021

3.2 billion login pairs – email addresses and passwords – got posted on an online forum by hackers making it one of the biggest breaches ever. COMB stands for Compilation of Many Breaches and this compilation collected the data from an uncountable number of various data breaches.

To compare the scope of this leak – in 2017 1.4 billion online accounts were divulged in the so-called Breach Compilation, the breach beyond twice as humble.

The domains, to which the accounts with revealed passwords belong, include countries from different parts of the world, although it is not disclosed yet which databases were affected.

The fact that many people tend to use the same email-password pairs for more than one account aggravates the situation.
