Treasurer’s office vs. mayor
24.06.2021

Spyware has been reportedly found on each and every computer of the Westfield clerk treasurer’s office, Indiana.

The situation is aggravated by the fact that the installed software allows an intruder to access literally all the data stored within the location, and this affects about a dozen city bank accounts details, personal data of city employees and taxpayers.

The clerk treasurer insists that she had no idea someone was launching the aforementioned software and gaining ways to the confidential city information her office is responsible for.

All the records, including financial, payroll, critical data belonging to the city, appeared to be out of the office’s only control and was allegedly accessed by the city’s information technology department which is under the mayor’s control, and it was the mayor’s initiative to begin a legitimate financial investigation though no mention was made about deploying any spyware.

The possible reason is the discontent with the amount of presented information by the office to the mayor.
