Bangkok Air suffers passenger data breach. 200+ GB of data, including business sensitive documents and PII, were imperiled as a result of a ransom attack.
One of the largest airlines in Thailand has announced a personal data leakage as the information had been compromised by hackers who tricked the company with an exploit.
LockBit, a ransomware group, posted the information about the stolen details almost a week ago, last Thursday, and threatened the airline to publish the confidential details online asking for ransom.
Bangkok Air refused to make any payment, and the gang uploaded the whole 200 GB database. The investigation is on, the number of the affected customers is to be revealed.
Among the PII data there were names, phone numbers, emails, addresses, contact details, passport information, travel details, partial credit card information.
The airline warned its passengers that phishing and fraudulent calls are possible now.
LockBit has previously attempted to destabilise such companies as Palo Alto Networks, Trend Micro, Symantec and several Australian businesses.
