Acer faced two consecutive data breaches in Taiwan. The Desorden Group is the one to blame for both. Acer India’s servers were affected as well – 60 GB of data was compromised, 10,000 Indian clients of Acer had their data exposed.
Local after-sales service system has reportedly been attacked. According to the Acer representatives, the corporate security protocols were initiated promptly, potentially impacted clients are being notified.
Customer and company’s data, including financial details, login information was accessed by the hacker group. The hackers have proven that they are in possession of this catch by posting the video showing the taken files. The databases comprised 3,000 Acer India distributors and retailers.
The hacker group claimed to have taken only data related to employees, they didn’t obtain all the data and reported the incident to the company, after which the server was disconnected.
