About 30,000 state employees are represented by the unions which are now filing complaints to bring the Oregon’s Department of Administrative Services to justice. The draft list of vaccine status information of the employees got leaked to the media. The Oregonian and the Statesman Journal got to know the details firsthand from the Department.
According to the claimants, the state failed to ensure privacy for their confidential data and did it on purpose sharing the information with the state’s two major media resources.
The employees emphasise that the state infringed upon the privacy rights of 43,000 employees. The penalty for the violation can be up to $1,000 regarding each.
More than having concerns about disclosing medical records and religious information among other personal data, the employees were worried that this data could be accessed by those who are unauthorised to view it.
