Hackers have breached Optus’ systems. Optus is the Australian telecommunication large corporation. As a result of the incident, the following sensitive data has been obtained:
• names
• dates of birth
• phone numbers
• email addresses
• physical addresses
• passport and drivers’ license numbers (not for all clients).
Allegedly, up to 9 million customers had been affected. Optus official didn’t provide details on the peculiarities of the attack and didn’t tell the exact number of compromised accounts as investigation isn’t finished yet. However, this amount was described as a “significant number” that included current and former customers.
Evidence of publishing of any payment detail, account passwords or the extracted data hasn’t been obtained.
