Functionality of detection critical data unaccounted copies was automatized in SearchInform FileAuditor

DCAP system notifies about the presence of file copies and reveals areas where they are kept.

SearchInform FileAuditor, the system for file storages audit and protection has been updated. The new release optimized function of document copies search. From now on, when viewing a file, the DCAP solution reveals, whether there are copies of document. The system also enables to obtain document copies with the help of facilitated search tools.

The Duplicates tab was added to FileAuditor console. With the help of the tab a user can view list of file copies and find the full path to the files. The functionality is available for any file and is also available from the context menu – it’s enough to simply click on the file name with the right mouse button and choose the option Find all the duplicates. If information security officers need to check if any storages contain copies of some specific document, they can be obtained via search panel by similar or file hash-sum. It’s possible to narrow search criteria by excluding known file directory: then only unaccounted storage areas will be shown in search results.

New tools in FileAuditor deal with two tasks simultaneously. First, search for file copies helps to detect unaccounted copies of confidential data, which must be kept in specified storages. Secondly, quickly obtained reference about copies helps to estimate, whether the file system is  overloaded and optimize it.
