SearchInform DLP vs competing solutions
See how SearchInform Next-Generation DLP compares with legacy and limited solutions across endpoint, cloud, data discovery, user activity monitoring, risk detection, and incident investigation capabilities.
Types of DLP
The simplest way to categorize DLP solutions is by their functionality.
Legacy DLP solutions, such as Forcepoint or GTB, focus primarily on protecting data stored and processed on employee workstations. They are effective at securing confidential files on endpoints. However, this approach has significant limitations when it comes to protecting data across cloud-based services and applications.
In contrast, limited DLP solutions, such as Safetica, focus mainly on file protection. They apply security policies only to a file sent to a process, but not to data itself. Safetica, for example, doesn’t log any messages, message bodies, or calls, providing only limited incident details.
Next-Generation DLP solutions combine the strengths of both categories to provide consistent protection across hybrid IT environments. They also extend beyond traditional data leak prevention by offering additional capabilities for data discovery, user activity monitoring, risk detection, and incident investigation.
