The latest update to SearchInform’s DCAP system, FileAuditor, introduces a comprehensive and detailed report designed to assess user activity involving confidential documents.

SearchInform has enhanced its DCAP system’s ability to monitor operations with confidential files. The update equips security professionals with an efficient tool for quickly analyzing all file activities involving sensitive data.

The new report consolidates every instance of reading, creating, writing, copying, modifying, and other actions performed on files containing personal data, trade secrets, or other protected information. Instead of reviewing separate records for individual files, security specialists can now view a unified table of all operations – sorted by timestamp, workstation, user, data label, and action type. This significantly accelerates incident investigations and simplifies routine audits of access to confidential data. 

“The new tool is convenient for both audits and incident investigations,” said Sergio Bertoni, Lead Analyst at SearchInform. “It also highlights documents with no recorded operations — essentially unused data that simply occupies storage space. If such files are duplicated across multiple repositories and FileAuditor automatically detects and flags identical copies regardless of location – they can be safely deleted. This not only optimizes storage and frees up system resources but also reduces the risk of sensitive data copies being compromised due to insufficient oversight.”

The update continues to evolve FileAuditor into a comprehensive platform for flexible data access management. Earlier enhancements introduced temporary access rights, allowing employees to directly request permission from the security department to work with restricted documents.

The new functionality is especially relevant for organizations managing large volumes of confidential data and requiring real-time visibility and control over its usage.
