Security specialists can now monitor data that users exchange within Atlassian products.
The SearchInform DCAP system, FileAuditor, has expanded its list of supported business services. The solution now enables content monitoring in Jira and Confluence, allowing organizations to mitigate the risk of data leaks through corporate knowledge-sharing tools when employees unintentionally place confidential documents in open access.
FileAuditor scans Jira to detect files attached to issues and analyzes documents uploaded to Confluence pages. The system automatically assigns classification labels based on file content (personal data, financial documents, trade secrets, etc.) and retains file history. Analysts can review the file path (issue or page title), file name, labels, creation and modification dates. This makes it possible to quickly investigate incidents, verify compliance with security policies, and control work with sensitive documents from within a unified DCAP interface – regardless of where the files are stored.
The new functionality helps prevent situations in which a confidential document, normally stored in a restricted environment, becomes accessible to employees without the proper permissions once it is uploaded to a business platform. As a result, security teams receive additional oversight over internal data exchange channels and can prevent the further spread of corporate information outside the company.
“We see a consistently strong demand from customers for monitoring capabilities within collaborative systems. Jira and Confluence often store technical documentation, project materials, and commercial information. Within these platforms, such data may become accessible to employees who should not have access to it. FileAuditor tracks these cases so that access rights for attached documents can be aligned with the company’s overall security policies. The feature will be especially valuable for IT, telecom, and other industries where Atlassian systems form the core of business processes,” commented Sergio Bertoni, Lead Analyst at SearchInform.
SearchInform continues to expand its integrations with business platforms: the FileAuditor DCAP system and the Risk Monitor next-gen DLP solution already support Microsoft 365, Azure, and collaboration tools such as Webex, along with other widely used corporate systems. The functional capabilities of these integrations are continually growing: the DLP system controls channels of confidential data transfer, while FileAuditor provides proactive protection of data at rest directly within collaborative storage environments.
