SearchInform has enhanced the capabilities of its DCAP system FileAuditor for Linux-based infrastructures. The system can now monitor file servers and network-attached storage running on Linux where corporate data is stored, while also accounting for their storage capacity.
The updated approach enables organizations to oversee file repositories, corporate archives, and shared directories that store large volumes of data – from project documentation to backup copies. Companies can now estimate the required resources for FileAuditor deployment based on the volume of monitored storage. This allows for predictable control over DCAP system resource consumption and facilitates capacity planning if the audit scope needs to be expanded. This is particularly relevant for organizations that are actively scaling their Linux environments.
“In today’s threat landscape, data security cannot be limited to endpoint monitoring alone,” comments Sergio Bertoni, Leading Analyst at SearchInform.
“File servers and storage systems form the backbone of corporate infrastructure, accumulating years of business-critical data. Paradoxically, these repositories are often left outside the security perimeter under the assumption that data is safe once it is “inside”. In practice, however, uncontrolled access to file archives, along with the lack of audit and data classification, creates vulnerabilities that can lead to data leakage. With the new FileAuditor capabilities, we provide organizations with Linux infrastructures a comprehensive tool for end-to-end data security control – from user workstations to server-side storage,” Bertoni revealed.
SearchInform FileAuditor provides monitoring across both Windows-based systems and Linux environments, including widely used distributions such as CentOS, Ubuntu, Pardus, and Debian. The solution also supports integration with popular cloud storage services (via S3, NextCloud, WebDAV, and others), FTP repositories, and business applications with file-sharing capabilities, including Microsoft 365, Jira, Confluence, and others. This ensures consistent file protection across business infrastructures of any architecture, including hybrid environments.
