First American Financial leakes hundreds of millions of confidential details

First American Financial, the giant corporation, provider of title insurance and settlement services to the real estate, has leaked almost a billion of personal records online.

The compromised data covers files stored for 16 years. 885 000 000 documents containing transfer and property information and including bank account numbers, tax records, driver licenses have been revealed by the real estate developer Ben Shoval.

The company hasn’t commented on the major breach which had made a hole in the official web site

Knowing the correct URL for a valid document allowed for viewing other documents merely changing a digit in the link.

Although the corporation has avoided commenting on the leak, the spokesperson ensured the publicity that the internal investigation was conducted to assess the impact on the customers’ details.

The company stated that the exposed data was detected on May 24, 2019. Some of the breached documents have been available online since March 2017.
