UniCredit breached data of 3 million Italian clients, including names, phone numbers, addresses and emails. The file containing the personal details was created in 2015.

The sources and the reasons for the data breach are not announced as the investigation is ongoing.

There were already incidents when the bank was affected by a third party provider two years ago, but it was reported that the leak has nothing to do with those cases.

The UniCredit customers are warned to be cautious and not open suspicious emails as the leaked information is sufficient to begin phishing attacks.
