An employee at Nebraska Medicine was dismissed after the unauthorised access to patients’ data was discovered.
On the 1st of October during the audit of the system, the organisation detected an access which was beyond the employee’s job responsibilities.
The staff member could access names, addresses, medical records’ details, license and Social Security numbers as well as the results of tests and individual medical notes between the 11th of July and the 1st of October.
It wasn’t disclosed how many patients got affected and it is not known whether the data was misused yet.
