Broadlink has recently dismissed an employee who pled guilty to device theft and data exposure.
Yuichi Takahashi was hired by the company in 2016. He would steal corporate hard disks and flash drives nearly every day and put the data up for sale on the Yahoo auction website and the Mercari marketplace.
12 hard drives were seized when he got apprehended, although he admitted to appropriating 18 devices containing sensitive data belonging to the Kanagawa Prefectural Government.
The former employee managed to post online more than 3,900 hard disks to sell the information. The number of all the items he uploaded to the websites amounts to 7,800.
Broadlink’s business activities are currently suspended as the company is going to introduce security measures and controls conforming to the requirements.
