Panasonic is recovering from a 4-month exposure

Back to news

Panasonic has reported a long-term information security issue which has been detected on November 11. The announcement was made on November 26, although the Japanese company had informed the regulators straight away.

The malicious actors had been benefitting from the information for 4 months. Panasonic detected an atypical network traffic.

As The Record notes, Japanese tech producing brands have been dealing with Chinese state-sponsored attacks for years already, the Chinese groups may be the first-to-think-of aggressor now as well.

The data got compromised due to the unauthorised access by an unknown violator to the corporate internal network.

It has been confirmed that certain data got examined and could be obtained in the incident. There was customer data, staff personal details, the company’s practical and confidential documentation.
