Security system provider faces lawsuits

PCL Construction, Inc., a group of independent general contracting construction companies based in Canada and one of the largest contracting businesses in the United States, let some personal data of employees and former staff members outside the organisation. The vendor which works with the company helping it with payroll operations has alerted to the unauthorised access that led to information exposure.

The vendor’s compromised database comprises names, addresses, pay data, email addresses, phone numbers, and Social Security numbers.

The third-party vendor, though not referred to, may well be PaperlessPay Corp. which had already had a data breach this year before. 

ADT Security Services, an American company that provides electronic security, fire protection, and alarm monitoring services in the United States for small and large businesses, got complaints from its customers. Employees were allegedly spying on hundreds of clients eyeing them from security cameras placed in customers’ houses.

The company admitted the failure to take basic measures to protect clients from employees accessing their cameras. The issue appears to be a problem which remained unsolved during 7 years.

The lawsuits which were filed against ADT state that the company offered the customers money to keep it quiet.
