Confidential information stored on a computer of an unsuspecting employee

The risk management department found confidential files on the computer of an employee who wasn't authorized to access them. Moreover, when the incident happened, the employee was on vacation.

The DLP system showed that remote access software was regularly launched on this PC. It turned out that the network administrator was involved. He temporarily stored confidential data on the victim's computer before transmitting it to third parties. The honest employee could have become an innocent accomplice in the information leakage, which was prevented.

The monitoring system not only prevents malicious violations but also protects loyal employees from incidents which would involve them as an accomplice or even a key perpetrator. There are cases when staff memebrs get blackmailed or have their work sabotaged, and such intricate data breaches or scheming episodes make companies launch a costly and time-consuming investigation.
